Overview and Responsibilities
VET Data Streamlining Delivery – 2x UI/UX Designers
DESE is leading the development of a new vocational education and training (VET) data collection and reporting system. The VET Data Streamlining (VDS) program will transform the national VET data system to increase the timeliness and quality of data collection and use. DESE is working with partner state and territory governments and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to deliver this initiative through several strands of work over the next few years.
We are looking for two UI/UX Designers to assist with the technology aspects of the VDS build. The Key deliverables of the roles include:
•Design and develop user interfaces for web UI and mobile applications to meet functionality, usability and accessibility requirements.
•Translate concepts into outputs and prototypes and captures user feedback to improve designs.
•Create, improve and use appropriate methods (e.g. wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, journey maps, mock-ups, and graphics) to effectively communicate the interface requirements
•Evaluate alternative design options and recommend designs, taking into account performance, usability and accessibility requirements
•Develop, interpret and follow visual design and branding guidelines to create consistent and impactful user experience
•Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript
Essential Criteria
1. Work with users, partners, architects and build vendors to design, develop, test and implement user interfaces for web UI and mobile applications to meet functionality, usability and accessibility requirements, while interpreting and following any required visual design and branding guidelines
2. Create, improve and use appropriate methods (e.g. wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, journey maps, mock-ups, and graphics) to effectively communicate the interface requirements to partners, users, and developers
3. Evaluate alternative design options and recommend designs, taking into account performance, usability and accessibility requirements
4. Understanding of basic front-end languages HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JSON, and appropriate software design and prototyping tools
