The Takeovers Panel is a legal tribunal in mergers and acquisitions and is the main forum for resolving disputes in takeovers. The Panel seeks to decide disputes in a speedy manner by focusing primarily on commercial and policy issues. Decisions are made by 49 part time Panel members who are specialists in mergers and acquisitions: either as investment bankers, lawyers, company directors or other professionals. They are supported by an executive of 6 Treasury employees. More detail is provided below, and a detailed analysis of the Panel’s business processes and requirements can be provided confidentially on request. The output of this work would be one or more Business Cases including solution options (this may include the running of procurement exercises to better understand solution options and costs etc). The Business case would be used to gain funding for a subsequent project to implement the recommended solution outcomes and changes.
