Overview

The Department of Industry, Science, Energy & Resources is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to lead and drive the implementation of cloud systems within the Department. They will have the IT skills and relevant work experience, in conjunction with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement. Ability to work as part of an agile team and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders is also a requirement.

Responsibilities

  1. Working within both the Cloud Capability Program and departmental projects to identify and implement the optimal cloud-based solutions.
  2. Planning, designing and developing cloud-based applications.
  3. Managing cloud environments in accordance with departmental technical and security guidelines.
  4. Deploying and servicing cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  5. Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  6. Employing problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before problems arise
  7. Lead and develop best practices for larger Cloud Engineer team.
  8. Building and designing web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services.
  9. Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company.

Essential Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud based technologies and architectures
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience designing and documenting cloud based architectures for large, complex enterprise systems
  3. Demonstrated experience in application architecture and integration architecture
  4. Demonstrated track record of applications or infrastructure technical leadership across project and operational tasks

Desired Criteria

  1. Experience in working effectively with a highly skilled technical team in an agile environment
  2. Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders
