Overview
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment seeks experienced range of Developers to join our team. The team is responsible for providing a wide range of digital services to support the business and operating environment of the department.
Responsibilities
The developer will be responsible for building, developing or maintaining code in a large enterprise system. The developer skillset required include the following areas:
- CRM Developer
- Data Warehouse Developer
- Software Developer
- SQL Database Developer
- VB6 developer
All developers will be required to undertake:
- Participate in requirements analysis
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture
- Write clean, maintainable and scalable code following Departmental standards and practices
- Work collaboratively with team members
- Test and deploy applications and systems
- Revise, update, refactor and debug code
- Improve and maintain existing software
- Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Serve as an expert on applications and provide technical support
- Develop and maintain Unit Tests
- Work in Agile Methodologies
- Release code using CI/CD pipelines
Essential Criteria
Extensive experience (5 years+) in delivering and supporting large enterprise solutions with one of these skillsets:
- CRM Developer
- Data Warehouse Developer
- Software Developer
- SQL Database Developer
- VB6 developer
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use communication and negotiation skills to manage stakeholder relationships in a challenging IT environment
Demonstrated experience in supporting large applications in a production environment
Experience working in an Agile software development environment and experience using Devops toolset
Desired Criteria
- Previous experience working on the department’s Employment, Skills or Education IT systems.
- Understanding the business context of the Department of Education, Skills and Employment environment.
Security Clearance
Must have current baseline clearance
Extension
Two option periods of twelve months each:
- 1 Jul 2021 to 30 Jun 2022;
- 1 Jul 2022 to 30 Jun 2023
