Overview and Responsibilities

The CIO Group of the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) provides a range of enabling support services within the department and to our portfolio agencies. The project manager position is attached to the ICT Strategy and Departmental Systems branch within the CIO Group. One of the responsibilities of this branch is to provide the strategic and operational support required to the deliver the department’s cyber security uplift program of work. The department is looking for a project manager with relevant skills and experience to join the cyber security uplift team to deliver an extensive program of work. The team requires a highly experienced, creative, self-motivated and project manager. The person selected will join a small multi-skilled agile team that works within a portfolio management setting; partnering with technical and non-techical teams and a range of stakeholders to deliver outcomes for the program.

Essential Criteria

  1. Excellent communication skills; including stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
  2. Relevant and current ICT experience as a Project Manager.
  3. Highly effective organisational skills, including the ability to influence priorities for success.
  4. Ability to work as a team member or as an individual to achieve objectives and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  5. Ability to professionally represent the work area and the Department in meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Proven ability to deliver in a project and program environment under limited guidance.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work in an agile project delivery environment, understanding of the roles of an agile team, and (desirably) experience in ICT technologies.
  8. Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
