Overview and Responsibilities
VET Data Streamlining – Solutions Architect
DESE is leading the development of a new vocational education and training (VET) data collection and reporting system. The VET Data Streamlining (VDS) program will transform the national VET data system to increase the timeliness and quality of data collection and use. DESE is working with partner state and territory governments and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to deliver this initiative through several strands of work over the next few years.
We are looking for a Solutions Architect to assist with the technology aspects of the VDS build. The Key deliverables of the roles include:
•Ensure VDS deliverables are fit for purpose against requirements, DESE policies and business outcomes
•Provide technical design authority for all VDS deliverables, including those from vendors,
•Develop and maintain a technology and security target state architecture by producing technical artefacts such as standards, patterns, policies, reference architectures and roadmaps
•Design operational efficiency into the technology architecture including "best practice" use of cloud, networks and IT security
•Provide technical artefacts and architecture services in accordance with industry standards, particularly TOGAF, ArchiMate, SABSA and DODAF
•Work with vendors to understand their technology roadmaps and how to best apply vendor technologies to create an optimal IT operating environment, including defining standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures
•Address technology risks through application of architectural principles, strategies and design standards
•Ensure scalability and that the solution features future-proofing capabilities to cater for additional data sets and volume
•Experienced in cloud architecture services, including the production of technical artefacts describing cloud patterns, principles, standards, policies, reference architectures and strategies covering cloud-based application services
•Assist in producing an architecture for a multi cloud orchestration and governance framework supporting Identity, ITSM, SIAM, information integration, and key cloud characteristics such as elasticity and self service
Essential Criteria
1. Ensure that end-to-end system design meets the relevant functional and non-functional requirements, and is compatible with reference architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices, including required security practices, policies and architectures.
2. Ensure end-to-end system design meets requirements of performance and interoperability, with scalability, flexibility and future-proofing capabilities to cater for additional data sets and volumes
3. Experienced in cloud architecture services, including the production of technical artefacts describing cloud patterns, principles, standards, policies, reference architectures and strategies covering cloud-based application services
4. Provide technical artefacts and architecture services in accordance with industry standards, particularly TOGAF, ArchiMate, SABSA and DODAF
