Overview

The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) seeks contractor services for an ADABAS Natural Developer - Mainframe contractor for a period of 6 months / 132 Business Days with an option of 2x3 months to assist with the MoBR project, building and testing solutions that support ASIC's strategic priorities. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that the successful candidate possesses strong skills and extensive experience in the software development using ADABAS Natural. The candidate will need to have well developed liaison, communication and people skills as they will be working closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Developing software utilising ADABAS Natural programming language
  2. Producing relevant technical documentation in accordance with ASIC's SDLC.
  3. Assisting as required with deployment and transition to BAU activities.
  4. Undertaking additional responsibilities or tasks as required.
  5. Working professionally, positively and cooperatively as part of the team and ASIC, modelling the values of Accountability, Professionalism and Teamwork.
  6. Taking all reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of fellow workers and any other person at the workplace that may be affected by your actions.

Essential Criteria

  1. Excellent knowledge and skills associated with developing, delivering and deploying software Using ADABAS Natural
  2. Demonstrated ability to conduct full design and code reviews for new and modified modules;
  3. Demonstrated experience in JCL, TSO and partitioned data sets
  4. Documentation of technical specifications and systems design.
  5. Contribution to the gathering of business and technical requirements
  6. Developing top quality application solutions, adhering to chosen methodology, policies, procedures, standards and security practices
  7. Proven experience in developing solution and system designs and technical specifications
  8. Minimum 5 years of experience in NATURAL Programming, including both Online and Batch environments
  9. Experience with Natural CONSTRUCT
  10. Messaging experience using MQ is desirable
  11. Solid experience with ADABAS Database
  12. A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, from a recognised educational/accredited institution is desirable and/ or equivalent substantial relevant work experience (current or previous).

Desired Criteria

  1. Knowledge/experience related to ASIC's Registry Solutions
  2. Accreditation, certification and/or professional membership with a relevant industry association is desirable.
