Overview and Responsibilities
1. Commonwealth requires the services of Level 2 Australian Land Data Model (AS LDM) Software Developer to supplement the contractor workforce within the Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC). This proposal seeks to engage a Software Engineering Practitioner to assist the LNIC with the design, development, and maintenance of software applications across the Generic System Architectures (GxA) product line. 2.The position is primarily a technical hands-on role, with responsibility for the development of the Vehicle Standard Operating Environment (VSOE) and the LDM, and the associated software tools to support their implementation. These tools will be used to support development and verification of AS LDM interfaces by industry, and to provide prototype services for use in a production environment. As part of a small, results oriented team a successful candidate will provide advice and contribute to design decisions for both specific tools sets, and wider architectural and data model implementation. 3.The LNIC GxA product line is responsible for the development and definition of standards to enable digital integration on Land Platforms. The GxA DEF(AUST) Standards are a suite of documents which inform the design and manufacture of military land platform system design (ie. vehicle, soldier, unmanned systems etc), delivering standardisation of materiel systems via standardised interface open architecture definitions (Interfaces; size, weight, power, digital, human systems). The intent is to improve military preparedness and effectiveness via materiel systems which are integrated, adaptable, interoperable, affordable and effective. 4.The GxA partially achieves this through the Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA), the LDM, the VSOE and other standards as they are required. Work is ongoing to refine these artefacts and products to meet the Land Force’s needs. LNIC will be responsible for the ongoing review, maintenance, and development of these artefacts and products in order to ensure they reflect emerging capabilities and satisfy Land Force integration needs. 5.The successful candidate will work within an agile multi-disciplinary capability delivery team including engineers (software, computer, mechatronics, electronic, mechanical etc), business analysts, designers, developers, architects, administrators, testers and military capability managers. Externally, working with other Australian Government departments, industry partners/ private enterprise and international coalition partners 6.It is expected that the majority of services delivered under this contract will be at the LNIC facility in Symonston, ACT. Interstate and international travel will be required to support Army exercises and integration activities. 7.A three (3) month period of probation is imposed as a condition of engagement for all new contractors. 8. The contractor engaged under this RFQTS will be engaged on a time and materials basis of payment. Notwithstanding, the following tasks and required skills to achieve them for the duration of this engagement are: a)Development and support of simulation and emulation tools to support OEM system development and verify AS LDM implementations; b)Development and support of applications and system management tools sets to monitor network, security and application performance of implemented systems; c)Development of documentation to support use and maintenance of developed applications; d)Development of software specifications to support outsourced software development of toolsets; e)Technical stakeholder engagement to educate and inform industry and Defence stakeholders about AS LDM implementation; f)Technical advice to the AS LDM Engineer and SO2 Land Combat System Architectures; g)Other tasks as directed by SO2 Land Combat System Architectures
