Overview

Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) are undergoing a transformation of our Client Services in order to improve their value to Australian businesses and deliver more services to more clients. Austrade are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team to design, deliver and evaluate a new face-to-face service. The service will support Australian businesses that are ‘born global’ and in the scale-up phase to expand into international markets.

Responsibilities

The Product Manager will be responsible for the implementation of new business processes, digital tools, both internal- and client-facing products, and organisational change management activities that support the delivery of the service.

The Product Manager will lead a cross-functional team which may include subject matter experts, service designers, user researchers, business analysts and IT professionals.

 

The role will involve:

  1. Engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand user needs, identify opportunities and review and improve the service
  2. Working closely with the senior stakeholders and the delivery team to maintain an inspiring vision for the service
  3. Working with your team, users and other stakeholders to construct a Product Backlog that ensures delivery meets user needs and maximises value
  4. Supporting organisational change and communications (internal and external) activities to raise awareness and encourage adoption of the service
  5. Reporting and presenting progress to the Executive and stakeholders and justifying product direction and prioritisation decisions

Essential Criteria

  1. The candidate must be an Australian citizen.
  2. Current Commonwealth Government baseline security clearance is an advantage, otherwise they must have the ability to obtain one.
  3. Significant experience (2+ years) as a Product Manager/Product Owner.
  4. Experience working in Agile teams (e.g. Scrum teams).
  5. Deep understanding of Agile/Lean methodologies and principles of HCD.
  6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Open-minded and flexible disposition.
  9. Demonstrated Agile mindset.

Desired Criteria

  1. Product Owner Certification (e.g. IC Agile, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org).
  2. In-depth knowledge of Australian and international technology sectors.
  3. In-depth knowledge of the challenges faced by 'born globals' and scale-up companies.
  4. Familiarity with the Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital Service Standard.
